Okay, I'm an actual full blooded 100% Irish Catholic from The Bronx, NY. NYC, Boston and maybe Chicago are the only places you'll really find a full blooded Irish-American like myself. I know Irish hate us Irish Americans and I know Irish Americans go right back at them with 'off the boat' and make fun of their brouges and etc. But why is there so much fighting between us? I've even heard an Irish guy say, "We aren't like Irish-Americans at all, they are animals and give us Irish a bad name don't get us mixed up, we aren't thugs, criminals or drug dealers like them.". I find this deeply insulting, being a 4th generation Irish New Yorker. While I admit some Irish-Americans got involved in that type of stuff and gangs, many of us joined the NYPD or FDNY, I believe over 50% of the NYPD and FDNY is Irish-American, the 2nd being Italian-American. BUT why do Irish hate us so much? Is it because we make you look bad, by accomplishing more then you ever did? We came here during the pototao famine and "No Irish Need Apply" and the worst discrimination in the North-East even worst the Blacks, and we overcame that, granted there are some bad eggs, but thats like us Americans saying all Irish are IRA terrorists and fat drunks.
